I love dungarees.

How could you not love something that takes you back to the era of Dawson’s Creek, Dunkaroos and Disney Adventures magazine?! Dungarees are a little childish, incredibly nostalgic, and a whole lot of fun. Above all, they are the perfect layering piece.

Now, layering has never been my strongpoint. I freeze my way through winter in what is essentially the same outfit, thanks to my severe lack of warm, versatile, winter pieces.

Spring/summer layering?

Now that is a different story. For some reason, that I can do.

I can successfully layer dungarees

Up until these Superdry dungarees made it into my wardrobe, I had always kept my dungaree layering pretty simple – thrown over my bikini post beach, worn with a long sleeve striped tee underneath, or just paired with a white t-shirt and sandals. Yep, pretty much how I layer in winter… whoops! Now that I finally own a denim pair (yes, believe it or not, all of my other previous pairs were patterned!), I feel like I can ramp up the layer game a whole lot more. Currently, the ultra 90’s ‘cami, tee and dungaree’ look is one of my favs, closely followed by the layered double denim for a more casual look.

What do you/would you wear with your dungarees? Do you keep it simple, or are you keen to pile on the layers too?

I feel like the loose, bib-like front of these and all other dungarees, really gives you unlimited options for layering both underneath and over the garment. You can take your denim from summer right through to cooler autumn days, just by mastering the art of adding extra layers. Heck, it makes dungarees one of the most versatile pieces in any wardrobe!
