It may seem slightly ironic that I am talking about spring and new life when I have just had to say farewell to one, but given my beliefs around life and death, perhaps it really isn’t.

Spring is a season of happy. It is the beginning 9 odd months of the weather that I truly live for.

You can’t help but smile at the blue skies and warm sun, nor at the abundance of new life. Fields of flowers are suddenly in bloom, the whole of Riverside Drive grinds to a halt to let a mother duck and her ducklings cross, and the annual whale migration happens down the coast of WA. Life is truly at it’s fullest in Spring. At risk of sounding cliché, it really is a magical time of the year.

I know I bang on about it, but I truly believe this weather brings out the best in everyone, as well as in nature.

It is almost as if we are reborn post-winter. It is like our energy and souls get a good charge up from a healthy dose of sunshine. I see it in myself, and I see it in other people – we get a new lease on life as soon as spring rolls around. Just as nature and the animal kingdom flourish at the turn of the season, so do we.

I can’t help but emulate a time of such abundant life in the way that I choose to dress. Bright, happy yellows, fun, flouncy cuts and pretty florals – what ever I can don to keep that spring spirit alive. It does a lot for my own spirits, but I know it puts a smile on the face of others too.
