Intelligence is more than just the ability to do complicated physics equations, or to understand big words.

Everyone embarks on their travels with different intentions. Some travel for work, others simply for cheap Bintangs and villa parties. However, the most considered traveller travels with the expectation of learning more about the destination they are travelling to, the people who live there and – inadvertently – more about themselves. It is this type of traveller that benefits from galavanting the globe the most.

Exploring a new country with the intent to learn speaks volumes about an individual and their mind. It takes an open minded, liberal person to be able to accept the imminent onslaught of information and soak up every last experience they encounter. A willingness and eagerness to absorb new information, and an inherent ability to comprehend situations outside of their own comfort zone, are indicative of an intelligence far greater than any IQ score can identify.

Intelligence is more than just numbers and vocabulary.

In fact, you will find that most people will agree that the most charismatic kind of intellect is worldliness. Sure, book smarts are commendable and their importance is not at all to be down played; but book smarts will only get you so far. Possessing a certain level of worldliness is imperative in growing to be a well-rounded, level-headed human being. And what could be more attractive than that?

The key to worldliness is in it’s name. You must open yourself up to experience the world in a certain way, and form well grounded opinions from your experiences, before a certain level of intelligence can be achieved. Nobody had their mind challenged or expanded from their armchair. Seeing all different sides of this world we live in – the great, the good, the bad and the ugly – allows more informed judgements to be made. Travelling the world is the key to unlocking a kind of intelligence that you can’t get any other way.

It may be past time that the older generations often see as frivolous expenditure, but there really is a lot to be said about travel.

There is an inextricable link between travel, knowledge and intelligence; a link that everyone owes it to themselves to make at some point in their life. Money may not buy happiness, but it can buy travel and experience!

Haha I totally agree with you! My partner and I have always joked that he is intelligent (book smart), but I’m smart (street smart)… and they are two different things!
I travel as often as I can, but unfortunately my lifestyle doesn’t allow for it anywhere near as often as I’d like! If you don’t mind me asking, where were you when you took these pictures, it’s definitely somewhere I’d like to go someday! Xx

Hahahaha it is! It totally is! Book smart is the sort of smart that you can test, street smarts totally isn’t but it is so important!

Oh, and I am just on the treetop walk in Kings Park in Perth here hun 🙂
