It’s Spring in the City!

Finally, the rain clouds have disappeared and that gorgeous blue sky is bursting through! Bring on spring in the city!

After summer, spring is by far my favourite season here in Perth. Maybe it is the anticipation of the sunnier, warmer days to come, maybe it is the colour in the sky and the colour that comes to bloom, or maybe it is a combination of it all? Regardless, I absolutely adore the way the city comes to life after the rain clouds have lifted. Seeing the city come to life in spring brings me so much life!

To celebrate the sunshiney new season, the City of Perth are running a series of activations for ‘Spring in the City’. The scheduled events, city-wide specials and fun installations are just the encouragement we need to make the most of the warmer weather. Bonus: it all just so happens to coincide with school holiday time too (for all you mums and dads out there!).

If you are heading into the city over the course of the next few weeks, I recommend checking out these fun events and activations!

Yoga at Northbridge Piazza

Starting your weekend off with exercise is way better than waking up and being reminded of your previous night’s antics. Trust me on this.

Each Saturday until the 13th October, Yoga Vine will be hosting 8.00am yoga classes at Northbridge Piazza. The free classes are a great way to get out and enjoy the sunshine; plus, they are the perfect excuse to pop out to breakfast with your friends post savasana. You don’t need to register, but remember to bring your own yoga mat along for practice.

Kings Park Festival

September is wildflower season, and Kings Park is the one spot in Perth that you can see all of them in bloom at once. Pack yourself a picnic and go for a wander through the park, soaking up the sunshine and the sights of the river, the city skyline and those glorious wildflowers!

Fashion Totes

Local fashion illustrator Michelle Pike created a series of collectors totes especially for Spring in the City. Over the course of 5 weeks, the 5 different designs will be released; this week it is design #4 up for grabs.

The totes really couldn’t be on offer at a more convenient time, with the recent transition into plastic bag free shopping seeming to cause quite a stir. To collect your own free tote, simply spend over $20.00 in one transaction in the city, show your receipt at the collection point and away you go!

Date Night Movies at Northbridge Piazza

Make something of your mid-week movie night at an open-air screening in the Northbridge Piazza.

Now that the weather is starting to warm up, there is no excuse to not enjoy being outdoors. Running every Wednesday night from 19th September – 10th October, the movie nights are a great way to shake up your weeknight routine. Grab your partner, pick up some takeaway churros from San Churros, cosy up on one of the beanbags, and catch either The Greatest Showman, Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol2, Beauty and the Beast or Now You See Me 2 up on the big screen.

Hay St Bird Cages

If Coles has taught us anything, it is that miniatures of objects send people wild. Apparently, so to do giant versions of objects.

Visit the Hay St Mall between 15th September and 14th October and you will find 3 giant birdcages perched at the Barrack St end. They are the perfect spot to grab a seat, or to get a cheeky Insta shot of your Spring style! If you do share a photo to Instagram, don’t forget to tag #springinthecity.
