Black Friday Sales: My Holiday Picks from ShopBop

Just a small portion of the things on ShopBop that I have my eye on this Black Friday…

Whenever I think of holidays, I think of sunshine, ocean/pool and cocktails. It is programmed in me. Trips I have taken in the winter months, or to big cities just don’t have that same vacation feel. Don’t get me wrong – they are great; but they just aren’t my idea of the perfect holiday.

With another overseas trip looming this December, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I so desperately want to buy myself a pretty new summer something to wear in the coming months here in Australia, but I know I should be stocking up on warm things for the 8 degree weather. Yes, a trip to somewhere cold – this is so out of character for me!

That ‘holidays are warm and beachy’ mentality is really hindering my purchase planning for this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. It is hindering me so much that I actually haven’t looked at one winter item. Typical Mon. With some money to spend on ShopBop, I have been having a look through their offerings and picking out some possible holiday pieces, and not one of the things on my wishlist is winter appropriate.

Help me!

If you are curious, these are all the things that I have added to my favourites thus far. Anyone would think I am gearing up for another island getaway (well, maybe I am next year…)! If you are heading away on an island getaway soon, then perhaps my holiday picks might help you more than me!

Seeing as the ShopBop Black Friday sale doesn’t end until Sunday, I am going to spend my weekend whittling down my selection and more than likely treating myself to a few summery things to go with my winter purchases. Let me know what you think, and wish me luck!

Onia x WeWoreWhat Danielle Swimsuit US$195.00 / Onia Danielle Swimsuit US$195.00 / Ganni One Piece US$205.00 / Marysia Palm Springs Lace Up One Piece US$363.00 / Carla Colletto One Piece US$375.00

One pieces are the epitome of poolside luxury. I am yet to dabble in the idea of a one piece myself (I prefer to wear as little as possible when I am by the water); if I were to give the full pieces a go, these are the swimsuits I would go for!

Eberjey Siena Elba Dress US$139.00 / Milly Sadie Coverup US$185.00 / Stella McCartney Timeless Cover Up US$550.00 / 9Seed St. Tropez Dress US$114.00 / L*Space Sunset Cover Up US$130.00

Travelling to a beachside or tropical destination without a cover up or seven is like travelling to the snow without thermals; you just can’t do it. They get you from A to B without so much as a thought about changing! Add some pretty slides or sandals and you can get away with wearing your beach and pool clothes all day.

Kate Spade Icarus Pineapple Slides US$68.60 / Schutz Walquiria Fringe Slides US$54.00 / Loeffler Randall Starla Sandals US$195.00 / The Fix Naomi Slides US$27.60 / Ancient Greek Sandals Taygete Slides US$210.00

In my opinion, there is only one type of shoe to take away with you on vacation, and that is the slide. Closely following that is a sandal. The rest of the shoe world? You needn’t bother with them.

You will rarely ever see me in enclosed shoes. I just don’t like them. Plus, slides are by far the easiest, most comfortable shoe option for getting around in (NOTE: sneakers are not easy – there are laces to deal with). No laces, no buckles and no worries!

Cleobella Tilda Clutch US$168.00 / Mar Y Sol Fortaleza Tote US$83.40 / Serpui Marie Pineapple Clutch US$115.20 / Loeffler Randall Mina Beaded Tote US$295.00 / Mercedes Salazar Woven Tote US$395.00

I have been a long time fan of the woven bag. I picked up a few in Cambodia some time back, and since then I have come to realise just how versatile they are. Not only are they super ‘vacation’, but they go with EVERYTHING.

Stella McCartney Ballet Polka Dot Dress US$590.00 / Glamorous Paisley Dress US$82.00 / Camilla Dress US$650.00 / Rococo Sand Stellar Dress US$630.00 / Melissa Obadash Lou Dress US$450.00

A vacation wouldn’t be complete without one day spent in a floaty maxi dress. The two just go hand in hand. If you are into taking the odd Instagram shot too, the maxi dress always looks bangin’ on the beach or by the pool!
